Active.com Home Page
Refresh of design and function
What it's all about
The main project goals were to promote events and facilitate signups, ad revenue, and Active Advantage trials. We also wanted to position Active.com as a fresh, fun and reliable destination to find and sign up for events and activities of all kinds - emphasizing variety while not alienating the endurance market it is known for and dependent upon.
The home page is structured to allow either specific searches or browsing by categories and interests. By keeping users on the page and showing them tailored content, we hope to boost conversion and site visits. A large ad placement is tightly controlled and available to select advertisers and clients. The Advantage program has a link in the navigation as well as a large placement on the page itself. An articles section keeps the user interested and on the site if events are not piquing their interest right away.
During the process of this redesign, COVID came into play and upended the world of in-person activities. To compensate and provide visibility to virtual offerings, we defaulted the search bar to show virtual activities.
The refreshed design creates delight and inspires confidence that Active is a tech-savvy, dependable, and fun place to browse and sign up for races and activities.
